Israel and UAE move forward with visa-free entry

Israel and the UAE are moving forward with some of the final bureaucratic hurdles of the visa-free or visa exempt travel that will underpin the new relations. More than 50,000 Israelis already went to Dubai mostly without any issues, however there were several sticking points. Visa-free travel takes time to implement. The countries wanted to have tourism emerge quickly in late November and they jumped through hoops to get there.

Now Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the "Confirmation of Exemption Agreement" which says that the UAE Foreign Ministry "announced today to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the approval exemption agreement has been ratified by the UAE government. In light of this announcement, the agreement will enter into force 30 days from today and Israeli citizens will be able to enter the United Arab Emirates without a visa." That means this should all take affect by February 13, 2021.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi praised the agreement. "The ratification of the agreement is a key pillar in the full and rapid implementation of the many agreements that are currently being formed with the Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco."
